Friendly face gone

Almost three years ago, I went on the best trip of my life. You can see the whole post about it here (although most of you have already read it).
The whole group of us was divided into families, and my family and another family were really close. McKay Burrows was a member of the other family. You can read about his death here. McKay, you were always such a fun kid. Rest in peace, you will be missed. But the memories that you helped create for me and others on Heritage Tours will be cherished.

I like to pretend I'm Asian, only McKay could pull it off, though.

Double check

SO last night I was doing the normal get-ready-for-bed routine. Wash face, examine beauty, brush teeth, floss, etc.
As I was brushing my teeth, I was thinking, "why does my toothbrush feel weird?" and "my hand doesn't normally fit like this on my tooth brush."
Then it dawned on me.

I was using my roomates toothbrush.
Gross, right? I KNOW! The funny thing is, we share a toothbrush holder, and probably a week ago, I had pasted the bristles, then ALMOST put it in my mouth, but I caught myself. Then I yelled to Carly to come brush her teeth because I had pasted her brush.

But this time, once I realized that it was Carly's brush I was using, I started to laugh, then I walked into her room with my foamy mouth and her foamy tooth brush just chillin next to my face, so she could see what I'd done.
I've got to double check everytime I brush!

Whoopsie Daisy!

Rockin' Bod

Lets be honest: I'm not in my best outfit when I wear my swimsuit. (But then again, everyone says that. So why am I different? let me tell you)

Last night, my ward went to a hot springs. As I was makin' small talk with the people around me, one girl asked me, "hey, this is random, but do you go to mexico for christmas?"

SHUT UP.

I told her, with a shocked face, "YEAH! how do you know?"
as the conversation goes on, she gives me the deets {her name is shrader as in they came with the thurgoods for 2 years in the old trailer park}.
and I ask her, "how did you recognize me? I knew you were familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on why you looked so familiar, It must have been the swimsuit, because that's practically all we ever saw each other in!"

Funny, right?

SOOO then today, I was sitting in my natural disasters lab, working on the assignment, and some kid sits next to me and asks me, "you look familiar, do I know you from somewhere?"
and then we try and find out where we recognize each other from.

Yet again, it was my rockin' bod

turns out, we were on the same swim team together last winter semester.
and it also turns out, that that was my ugliest time of day.
In the pool, you had to wear the issued swimsuits that are the most unflattering things ever (like they are super low cut down on the bottom, and have ZERO support for the girls, so all my best assests are showin) and the only swim cap I had was one I got from the St. George Tri, which just happens to be bright orange and has a pumpkin on it.

So needless to say, this boy not only remembered ME, but also my super awesome orange swim cap!

Isn't it clear that its my "rockin bod"? It must've been my Barbie upper half that helped to. :)

Birthday!

Happy birthday Bro! (look! a post all your own!) I may be biased, but growing up you were pretty freakin' awesome and nice, and you never teased me! (at least never teased me enough that I would remember it x amount of years later.)

BUT, now that I think of it, I do remember you coming of your mission and saying, "Molly, I never was a real brother growing up, so I feel I have to compensate for it now." To which then you would proceed to sit on me and fart.

Jee, maybe I should take the "freakin' awesome and nice" out of your qualities that I like.

Just kidding.
Yacob, you are such a clown! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

belated-birdays

I have a new goal: to shout out peoples birthdays. Well, since I already missed my mom's and dad's they will have to have a belated birthday-shout out. (although, the cards that I sent them are pretty freakin' awesome!) So, dear parents, Happy birthday's.

guilt trips?

Remember that post about Brother Hunt? Well here is a little story that just happened yesterday during English (remember--he has his Ph D in philosophy, and he likes to challenge our minds). And remember, in hypothetical philosophical situations, you must deal with the circumstances, and there are no such things as "what if..."

Bro. Hunt: Lets give you an ethical scenario. You are walking around a pond, the pond is pretty wide, but at its deepest, it is probably up to you chest (for adults). In order to walk around the pond to the opposite side that you are on, it would probably take you about 10 or 15 minutes. As you are walking around the lake/pond, you notice in the very center of the pond there is a child that is drowning, and is unable to stay up much longer.

Now, you have just bought a pair of shoes, and they are the most expensive shoes that you have bought--ever. They cost you about how much you've ever spent on shoes (our class said that people have paid about $500 for a pair of shoes). So as you are walking in your fancy shoes, you see this child. And you notice that on your half of the pond/lake that there are very sharp objects everywhere. There is no way to avoid the sharp objects, but to walk to the other half of the lake. (but walking that distance would take too much time, and you wouldn't reach that child in time) You could take off your shoes and walk through the sharp objects, but you will cut, gash, and ruin your feet, and your medical bills maybe more than the shoes are worth.

So, you have 3 options:
1. Run to the other half of the lake, and save your shoes, but not make it to the child in time.
2. Take off the shoes, walk through the rocks, and save the child.
3. Walk through the rocks with your shoes, save your feet, and the child.

So you we clearly chose to save the drowning child and ruin the expensive shoes.

Then my professor, being a clever one, related this to the Haitian efforts. He asked, "what does a pair of shoes mean to you? There are lots of people who are in need."

(ugh, thats like what my mother does.......
...
...
ahem. Love you mom!)

So we all should donate something monetarily equal to our most expensive pair of shoes, because its the right thing. Donate to LDS efforts here. (yes, Tithing may go to this as well, but think of these Doctors here, who are sacrificing much more than we, are not getting paid, and probably working more than than physically necessary.)

NOT trying to guilt trip you, but if you feel like this is something you could do, then I suggest you do. :)

Beware

....of the girls bathroom in the Romney, bottom floor, second stall.

It locks you in.

Or at least it did to me. As I was doing 'the dance' into the bathroom, I hurriedly hung up my coat and backpack on the stall door, and then noticed that the door was slowly creaking open. I noticed that the lock was not lined up, so I then did some temporary adjusting to make it stay.

Once I was done with my bidness, I put on my coat and my backpack, unlocked {or so I thought} the lock and couldn't open the door. I tried to jimmy the lock. Nothing happened.

I tried my super-human muscles, nothing happened.

I tried to lift the door up while I unlocked it, still nothing happened.

After covering my mouth so the other person in the bathroom wouldn't hear me laughing, I waited until they were done to attempt my escape.

I tried agian to unlock the door, nothing happened.

Then I started to consider my options:
1. crawl underneath the door.
gross
2. crawl under the stall into the door next to me.
grosser, considering I would be crawling in a considerable close vicinity with the John.
3. wait until somebody else came in to help me
embarassing. {could you imagine for a moment. You walk into the powder room and hear, "excuse me, could you help me unlock my bathroom stall? I just can't seem to get it open!" yeah right!}
finally......
attempting to unlock the door one more time before performing option number 1, my normal-human muscles kicked in.

I walked to the sink and washed my hands, and noticed my face was pink. Oh thank heaven nobody else came in.
